The Luxor African Film Festival aspires to become a premier international gateway for African cinema, bringing together the continent’s diverse cultures and unifying its peoples through the language of the seventh art. The festival’s vision is to transform Luxor into a beacon of art and creativity and a global cultural destination celebrating African diversity. It aims to be a platform connecting filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from Africa and beyond, serving as Africa’s window to the world and inspiring intercultural dialogue and global rapprochement through the magic of cinema.

Mission

The festival's mission is to support and encourage African film production and to build effective partnerships among African nations by strengthening human and political ties across the continent, particularly among its artists. The festival provides a gathering space for filmmakers from all over Africa to showcase their creativity and foster cultural dialogue that celebrates the continent’s diverse identities. It addresses common issues affecting African populations through cinematic expression, promoting solidarity and closer relations with sister African nations. The festival collaborates with national and international institutions to exemplify culture’s role in fostering intercultural understanding and elevating African cinema's global profile.


Objectives

·        Supporting African Cinema and Amplifying its Voices:

o   Encourage African film production and provide a global platform in Egypt for filmmakers to showcase their work, highlighting Africa’s stories and cinematic heritage.

o   Recognize exceptional achievements in African cinema through competitions and awards, motivating directors and producers to deliver high-quality productions reflecting African cultural richness and diversity.

·        Enhancing Cultural Communication and Dialogue among African Nations:

o   Foster cultural connections and mutual understanding among African countries through cinematic events that unite diverse audiences in shared artistic experiences.

o   Create spaces for dialogue among directors, artists, and audiences from various African nations, celebrating Africa’s identity diversity and exchanging perspectives on common issues and challenges presented in films.

·        Developing Young Talents:

o   Discover and nurture a new generation of filmmakers in Egypt and Africa through educational programs and training workshops during the festival in directing, acting, scriptwriting, and other cinematic disciplines, conducted by cinema experts.
